Generally the very first and the concluding paragraphs of any chapter will provide most of the information you need to be aware of. Especially the concluding paragraph include summary of the whole chapter. Develop a practice of reading summaries along with the introductory paragraph first. Then you decide you need to cover the whole chapter or not. Unless or until the topic is not absolutely new for you, you do not need revising and repeating it again.
