Solar panels usually comprise of photovoltaic cells that utilize solar energy directly from the sun in order to generate electricity for daily usage. Wondering how they work? Solar panels gather energy from sun that is freely available in huge amounts and in turn convert it using advanced technology developed by modern man.

Solar panel is not an entirely new concept and has been in existence for quite sometime now. In fact this concept has gained immense popularity in countries like Australia, United Kingdom and United States of America. The demand is so high that even used solar panels are being offered for sale mainly to reduce the installation costs.

Solar panels also offer wide range of other products that have been developed using solar energy at highly competitive prices. However when it comes to solar panel, its cost depends upon its dimensions and customer specifications. With ever growing needs of solar panels, variants like residential solar panels have also been introduced.

Residential solar panels absorb energy which in turn is used for powering an entire house. The photovoltaic panel used in these panels is formed by imposing layers of positive and negative silicon one beneath the other on a non reflective glass.

Silicon as we all know is a semi conductor and when impurities are added to it, these properties are further enhanced. In fact when suns rays penetrate through this, these two layers get activated allowing flow of electrons which in turn generates electricity directed into an external circuit. The electricity thus generated is converted either into DC or AC the moment you use an inverter.

One of the major advantages of using a solar panel is its eco friendly nature. Unlike other energy generating systems, solar panels do not produce carbon emissions. These gases when released in high levels can result in global warming.

Another benefits being the cost of this system. Since solar energy is available in large quantities for free, additional fuel taxes are not imposed on its use. On the contrary, solar systems also appreciate the value of your home. A residential solar power system operates independently and does not require the assistance of any conventional power grid systems.

Solar panels also do not require any spare parts and their warranty generally lasts for as long as forty years and above. So the money you incur in its installation is only a one time cost that is quite stable and highly functional in the long run.

Growing environmental awareness and social responsibility among people is driving them towards usage of more safer and natural methods of power generation. In this regard residential solar panels have gained immense acceptance. Do not go by the name and presume that solar panels usage is limited to homes alone. Efficiency and affordability have prompted local agencies and utility companies to get benefited from these services.

In order to lay your hands on the best residential solar energy systems, all you need to do is surf the net and buy the best product at best price.
